Notes: Most of the new open issues were reported from Tech Support
I have not tried to reproduce them and their status is

This file was started by myself before I new what format that
should of been used. The bottom part of this file that contains
the listing of Alpha and Beta bugs and should be considered
closed unless noted. All new bugs will be placed at the bottom
of the new division.

NEW OPEN BUGS

Bug 1) Several Parallax calls seem to have incorrect documentation. We have
apparently fixed these in our new releases.

Bug 2) I have a customer who has reported the following bugs. BTW, he says he
reported these last year sometime and is quite irate that these were not
fixed in 3.0.7.
When windows open and close on Sparc 20 dual headed system, the lines
that are drawn are thick boxes.

Bug 4) When using 3.0.7 software, and doing multiple stills at high speed, the
video does not repaint the window before drawing a new video. Therefore
the bottom half of the video is from the previous still. This appears
to be caused by reduced speed of the server. This affects the quality
of Paradise's software.
This does not occur under 3.0.6, and this does not occur under SW-OW34.
John will try to use the 3.0.6 server with the 3.0.7 driver to see if this
solves his problem. I can get more information if you need it. Joe, I
will work with you to duplicate this problem. I am told we can use scomp.

Bug 5) The followin listing is a from scott. When I have more time I will
split them into individual bugs.
VideoTool
- MINOR Record a movie with Input 1 set to Quarter Size,
but Frame Size (JPEG Compression Control Panel)
set to Full. Upon Loading the Movie, playback
is still in Quarter Size window, rather than
Full size window.
- MINOR No documentation describing the buttons of the
Video Device Control Panel in the Multimedia
Users Guide.
- MINOR Still Input 1 Window. Dismiss Input 1 window.
Select View/Input1. Input 1 window appears with
live Video Motion, but Video Configuration
Control Panel remains with Still selected.
- MINOR Documentation p.32 refers to white bounding box.
Appears as a black bounding box on my screen.
MovieTool
- MINOR Load and play movie. At conclusion, drag MovieTool
window. Window blacks out.
- MINOR Load Movie. Click Step Forward button. Lower right
label indicates "Step Forward". Press Play. Label
stays Step Forward. "Playing" does not appear in
single play mode. Only when Auto Repeat is selected,
will Playing appear.
- MINOR Load Movie. Play until end. Label indicates "End
of Movie". Press reverse. Label remains End of
Movie until Beginning of Movie is reached. However,
if at End of Movie, Press Step Reverse button, then
Reverse, appropriate labels appear for each.
- MINOR Load Movie. While either running in Play or Reverse,
press either Step Forward or Step Reverse. Label
is modified, but Play or Reverse continues until
Beginning or End of Movie is reached.
- MINOR Invoke movietool -p -f //movie at cmd line.
If movie was recorded at quarter size, two issues
(1) MovieTool windows opens at full size, flashes
then goes to quarter size (not very clean)
(2) 1/2 of Fastforward button is cut off.
- MINOR Documentation. Missing minus before -s option p.41
- MINOR Invoke movietool -p at cmd line. 1/2 of AutoRepeat
button is cut off.

1/18/95 3.0.7 Beta Two Testing. "*" need fixed

Looking through my log book the following issues where to be documented.
1) Release notes - On sparc 5 must use 4.1.4 to fix sound problem.
2) Release notes - Olit programs are no longer supported.
3) Release notes - Fixes to the server. (list from rockey)
4) Release notes - Daves fix. New msg on boot up saying that the
"Xvideo slow mapping work around enabled"
"Xvideo slow mapping work around disabled"
5) Release notes - On sparc 5 videotool will lock up the server at random
times if full size video is used to record. Current
release notes say that you can use 1/2. I could not
get the sparc 5 to work even at this speed, the
sparc 2 did.
6) Release notes - When 4.1.4 is used you must redirect the output of
/usr/parallax/openwin/bin/openwin into a file or the
system will crash.
7) Release notes - Document the logo changes.
8) Release notes - videoclip, logo shows up in black and white unless
the -visual option is used with StaticColor,TrueColor
DirectColor or PseudoColor.

1/16/95 3.0.7 Beta Two Testing. "*" need fixed

1) videotool - when input1 is opened the icon appears and then disappears.
Then if input2 is opened the icon appears in the 2nd video
window AND the input1 window. After a short time the icon
disapears from the input2 window, but stays in the input1
window.
UNLESS FIXED RELEASE NOTE
*2) videotool - On Sparc 5 running 4.1.4 save a movie and then use load
to play back the movie and the movies plays back correctly
but recieves an "System Error: Invalid Argument" error. This
happened on the last release, however it was supposed to be
fixed for this release. It was also determind that this fix
had to be in the FCS release. < MUST BE FIXED >
3) videotool - The rubber band box that is used to change the size or the
location of the output source does not appear over video. This
makes it hard to use.
4) fcomp - On the sparc 2 press quit from the olwm menu that appears when
the 3rd mouse button is pressed on the title bar and the fcomp
windows disapear, however the program does not die. You must
enter c to kill it in the window from where it was invoked.
5) gov - No icon and what is the delay used for. There are a couple of other
odd things happening, but I beleive that they are known problems.

*6) jpeg - icon image does not go away untill after you resize the window.
Dies with a segmentation fault. < MUST BE FIXED>
George could not reproduce segmentation fault. Joe
*7) movietool - with large window movie the icon shows up in the lower right
hand cornor. When the icon disapears a black box the size of
the icon shows up in the top left cornor and will not go
away. < MUST BE FIXED >
User error. Movie that was recorded had the top corner covered.
*8) Reminder to put the missing files onto tape. ./test/*.

3.0.7 Alpha and beta 1 bugs
===========================================================================
1) On the xconsole I keep recieving the following msg:
Plxv_input_config: not implemented
Known problem: ignore JOE
2) While running videotool on the sparc 2 I was able to lock up the
server. I could not get the server to respond to me untill I
logged in over the net and killed videotoool then I regained
control over the server.
Not reproduceable with newer releases JOE
3) On the sparc 5, if I run videotool and I record a movie, on playback
the audio is choppy, in that you can't understand what the sound is
supose to be. This does not happen on the sparc 2.
With 1.90 driver same thing.
With 4m.o.rjds driver same thing.
Sun's "soundtool" can record sound with no problem
A movie recorded on the sparc 5 will play correctly on the sparc 2.
A movie recorded on the sparc 2 will NOT play correctly on the sparc 5.
The motif version of videotool sounds corretly (1-5-95)
The Coke comerical movie file plays correctly on the sparc 5 with
the 3.0.7 version of videotool. (1-5-95)
Does not happen with 4.1.4 SunOs. Document that 4.1.4 must be used on the
sparc 5.
4) If I record a movie in a small window, then play it back in a large
window the video shows up in a small window located in the center of
the large one. The background of the large window then does not change.

5) When recording on the sparc 5 with videotool and using a large (default)
window to record at random times (anywhere from 3-25 seconds after
starting of the record) I get the following error on the xconsole:
Bad Interupt in state 2: c3_status=e20ee20e xv_status=4
c3GetImage: I/O error
When this error appears and you then try to replay the movie that was
just recorded, and you reach the place in the movie that the error occured
the movie stops and then from that point on untill the end of the movie we
get the following type of errors:
undefined j_movie byte stream comand 179
current frame number is 17
6) Beta 2 version of xvtcomp has problems in that the live video flashes.
When the video is turned on the receive window is on top of the send.
When you move the receive widow from on top of the send window the send
window is not correct (flashes?) If you move the send window the outline
of send window moves on the screen and the send window itself corrects
itself. When you are finished moving the window frame and the send
window apprears in it's new location it goes back to it non normal
behavior. (done on sparc 2)
The Beta 1 version plays correctly. (done on sparc 2)
Removed from beta 2 release Joe 1-13-95
7) xvtcomp should not place the receive window on top of the send window.
It should set resources or use some mechisim to place the initial windows
side by side instead of on top of each other.
8) There should be man pages on each sample xclients, that at a minimum
give a short explaination of what the program does and say that this
is just a sample program.
9) The videotool on the sparc 5 when recording with full size window has
a tendency to lose parts of the audio, so that when you are listening
to someone speaking words will get dropped.
10) When two video heads are running and you move the mouse from one
screen to the next, the parallax screen flashes. It only flashes when
the mouse enters the parallax screen and never when the mouse leaves.
the Sun (GV) screen does not flash when you enter or leave.
Known problem: Limitation in software. not work around. Document in
release notes.
