To program NVRAM on Parallax frame buffer cards, you need to run some programs (xv_pconfig, xv_config). These programs are located in the following two locations...
(1) For Solaris 1.X users, go to this directory on the CD... solaris1/307/parallax/openwin/lib
(2) For Solaris 2.5.X and 2.6 users, go to this directory on your hard disk... $PARALLAX_HOME/diag
These programs are not available on Solaris 2.3 or Solaris 2.4. On the CD version of version 3.0.7 of Parallax software, these programs are in $PARALLAX_HOME/openwin/diag, and in version X11R5 these programs are in $PARALLAX_HOME/X11/diag.
Before you start this procedure you need to know what type of parallax card you are going to reload and its serial number. You can find this information by running the xv_pconfig program in one of the directories listed above. The output of xv_pconfig will look like this:
Main Board: Sbus 66hz serial number: 14176 power cycles: 1 hours of operation: 0 CCube is rev 2 Hardware library compatibility code: 8008
If you have the VIO or RGB option card on the XVideo card, you will also see:
RGB Option Board: VIO (ntsc/pal) serial number 16209 board rev: 1 power cycles: 1 hours of operation: 0 Hardware library compatibility code: 8008
To reprogram the card you need to:
(1) Login as root (super user).
(2) cd $PARALLAX_HOME/components/tv2_driver_sun4c_1.19/test
If you do an ls -a on this directory, you will see:
.README .xv_config .xvset xv_pconfig xv_test
Move the .xv_config and .xvset files to xv_config and xvset.
The next steps you do will depend on the board you are trying to reload.
(A) If you are reloading an XV-24SVC do the following:
(B) If you are reloading an XV-24SV do the following: (NOTE: you will know to use these instructions because an xv_pconfig will tell you the CCube is missing or not installed.)
(C) If you are reloading an XVC-VIO (XV-24SVC-VIO) do the following:
(D) If you are reloading an XV-24SVC-RGB do the following:
(E) If you are reloading an XV-24SV-RGB do the following:
(F) If you are reloading a PowerVideo do the following:
(G) If you are reloading a MultiVideo do the following:
